Welcome back my friends I hope you are sitting comfortably
It seems I should set the scene so you are not confused utterly
When we last left our hero the author he had lost everything
The production was shut down, his cast and crew abandoning
All alone he was, in self-loathing and despair
But now circumstances have shifted and hope is in the air
He’s changed and I’ll let him tell you all about that
But first let’s break the fourth wall and chat

We americans we love stories of redemption
And it’s your fault theater are certainly no exception
Because with repentance comes more intense temptation
And this tension fuels the conflict central to the narration

Hey we freely admit it’s not the best storyline
But as fodder for lyrics, it’s a fuckin' goldmine
And isn’t this the tradition of musical theater?
Paper thin plots and storylines that are meager?
